Network Group Software

Recent software developed and distributed by the Network Group includes:
  • NetReg/NetMon System: A system for management of IP allocation, DNS/DHCP, as well as network device monitoring and topology development.
  • AuthBridge: Our system under development for MAC address filtering in Linux, providing authenticated network access for wired and wireless environments.
  • NetSage: A system for managing the 'mon' system for networks and systems monitoring.

Older software developed and distributed by the Network Group is available from:

ftp://ftp.andrew.cmu.edu/pub/net

Note that we have discontinued development of our SNMP library. We suggest you visit the net-snmpd project, a derivative of the CMU project.

Older software includes:
  • AgentX: An extensible agent for use with the Carnegie Mellon SNMP Library
  • MIB Resources: A collection of utilities we use to merge MIB files, as well as our MIBs
  • NetBar: Our system for authenticated network access for roaming laptops.
  • SNMP: The CMU SNMP library (V1.14).
  • DNS Load Balancing (BIND 8): Local modifications to BIND 8 to load balance among multiple machines. (Note: this project was never finished. We have done some work at load balancing using DNS UPDATE on Bind 9. Please see the NetReg/NetMon distribution, above.)
