Connecting to CMU-WPA – Mac OS X Tiger

 

1. Double click on the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop

 

 

2. Open the Applications folder, and then open the Utilities Folder.

 

3. Open the Keychain Access application.

 

 

4. Click My Certificates

 

 

5. Now click the File Menu, and then click Import

 

 

6. Choose the file you just downloaded from the NetReg instruction guide.  Then click open.

 

 

7. Enter the certificate password that you entered previously when you downloaded the certificate.

 

 

8. The certificate should now be shown in the Keychain window.

 

 

9. Close the Keychain Access application and go back to the Applications.  Then open the Internet Connect application.

 

 

 

10. Click the File menu, and then click New 802.1X Connection…

 

 

11. Click on the 802.1X icon at the top of the window.  Then click configuration chooser and click Edit Configurations.

 

 

12. Click the plus sign in the bottom left side of the screen.  Type in the description, choose the AirPort network port, change the user name to the hostname of your machine, and choose the CMU-WPA wireless network.  Uncheck all of the authentication methods, then check TLS.  Now click the Configure… button above the OK button.

 

 

13. Choose the certificate that matches your hostname and then click OK. 

 

 

14. When you are back at this window, click OK once again.

 

 

15. The 802.1X window should now look like this.  Click Connect.

 

 

16. The eapolclient is the application that sends your certificate to the wireless network to be authenticated.  Click Always Allow here.

 

 

17. If you did have not trusted the "cmu wpa ca" certificate authority, you might get this message.  Click Show Certificate, validate that it came from CMU, then click Continue. To prevent this message, trust the "cmu wpa ca" certificate authority.

 

 

18. You are now connected to CMU-WPA.
